Hello every one, we have been in Rome for 4 days. One day is finished in Florence, so we understood that 3 days in Rome all we have to visit. How is possible to get a taste of the 3 days in Rome. It is not impossible, mate. Also, it gives you a very good feeling about coming back to Rome and reasons for missing this city.
Some information about this post. This post is an rome travel guide, but rome travel detailed guide. somebodies tell as Rome Empire. but , whatever you called it, it is awesome city in Italy. I don’t share Rome map, but I will share our route via google maps. this is all about what to do in Rome in 3 days. Briefly it is a guide of Rome must see and this is really nice to check.
Let’s go with tour of Rome and here we go…
DAY 1 – 3 days in Rome
Lets start to travel of 3 Days in Rome. We landed to Fiumicino Airport in Rome. There are one more airport that I saw it when we were going to Florence. But, our flight landed to Fiumicino Airport. We chose the Alitalia due the flight times. It offers to the costumers early flight to the Rome and late time to go back your country. So, we decided to fly with Alitalia.
After landed, we tried to check some tourist info point to ask about transportation and tourist map. After we got our tourist map, we found a ticket seller to get ticket for metro to Termini Station from airport. It costed us 14 Euros for 1-person. Yeah, a little bit expensive. But, we solved this expensive cost while we were going back to the airport. Near Rome Termini Station, we found Alitalia shuttle to the airport. We asked for 2-seats reservation for going back to the airport. They said “yes, we can. It costs 6 Euros for 1-person”. This was our victory to the public transportation.
We got the metro to Termini Station. We got off the metro and walked through the outside of station. One road met us outside. There were many hotel and hostels around the Termini Station. Also, around Termini Station is really popular among the travelers which want to find a budget-friend accommodation and walk-distance to the popular buildings, historical places. We asked the soldiers of Rome about how can we find our Hotel Rubino and they answered us politely. We chose the Hotel Rubino. Beacuse it is really close to the Termini Station, just a few steps, and close to the supermarket, across the hotel, and close to the historical places, buildings and bus stations.
Now let us leave our gears in the hotel, we will come back soon.
INSIDE TO THE HOTEL
We met the hotel personnel. They were really helpful and kind to us. They told us that they got a mistake and couldn’t reserve 2 rooms for us. They offered us two different rooms or 1 bigger room and re-pay the rest of money. Of course, we chose second one :)) Extra money is like an ignition for our travels. After that, we asked about the breakfast and took breakfast tickets. We tried to find breakfast hall. But, the hotel is as in an apartment floor. So, we didn’t find a hall 🙂 instead of it we found a café that manages by two Italian. They are so good and friendly.
We want to say if they read this or bring this article to them and provides them to read this “hello friends” We tasted their croissant and delicious cappuccino and we talked them about the football, Italy etc. they answered our enormous number of questions kindly :))
Now, we got some advices from them and ready to go outside, to the unknown ambiance of Rome.
OUTSIDE OF HOTEL
After going outside of the hotel to the main street. We turned right and kept walking to the somewhere that we don’t know right now. After walked a while, we got a big street and we went across and turned left and walked the on the left sidewalk. You can find here lots of kiosk to get newspapers or tourist guide. After we stopped by one of kiosks, we continued to go to walk.
PLACES TO VISIT
Now we are on the Viale Enrico de Nicola street. You can see right side of this road some museums. After that we walked through the sidewalk and turned right to the Viale Luigi Einaudi street. These are also interesting street that heads you a basilica named as Santa Maria degli Angeli e dei Martiri. Here is really awesome place to visit by walking from the Termini Station. Inside of it is really attractive to the tourists. But, you have to notice that there is a basilica there. There are some cabinets inside also, some signs of the zodiac.
This street also brings you to Piazza della Repubblica. It has a fountain in the center of it. And in the evening it has amazing view of it. After google map check, we walked on Via Vittorio Emanuele Orlando. After short walk, we saw the Fontana dell’Acqua Felice at right hand side. It was huge structure.
After take left of it and walk downside to our target Fontana di Trevi. While we were walking down on sidewalk. We saw the Quattro Fontane. This Four Fontanes are from Late Renaissance. Amazing view!
Go on to downside and we saw Quirinale Gardens at left hand side and we noticed of the Equestrian statue of King Carlo Alberto.
After there, we continued to walk and came to very big square. Here has Obelisco del Quirinale. After there, we went downside from right and continued walking.
After walked a little bit more and then turned right. Now, we are on a narrow road and it goes through the Fontana di Trevi. (after Obelisco del Quirinale, turn right and walk downside then turn to the Via di S. Vincenzo and go and you found Fontana di Trevi).
After amazing walk trip, we found Fontana di Trevi, if we got a bus we maybe couldn’t find the monuments and fountains.
FONTANA DI TREVI
Here is amazing place that you should visit. Fontana di Trevi is a crowded place. It is fulfilled with the curious people and tourists in any day of every year. The most common thing here is getting a wish and throw a coin to the fountain pool. But, please don’t leave after doing this, also watch the people and figures of Fontana di Trevi.
There are some shops for taking gift for crazy-gift friends of yours. Around of Fontana di Trevi you can find ice-cream, drinks and little gift shops. But, I recommend you taste the ice-cream near Pantheon. That was amazing taste.
After taking enough time in Fontana di Trevi, come on lets go to the Piazza di Spagna, Spanish Steps. Here is also reachable by walking from Fontana di Trevi approximately 8-10min. You can google it.
You can choose one of this route choices to go to Spanish Steps from google. We chose this as I remember. There are McDonalds and some shops on the road to Piazza di Spagna. We saw the column of the Immaculate Conception firstly. Then we went forward a little bit and saw Spanish Steps…
PIAZZA DI SPAGNA
There are lots of steps here. You can climb the steps to get an nice view. If you climbed to the first balcony of it, then you can watch the view. If you climb to the top of the stairs. You can notice some little shops on the street.
Downside of Spanish Steps there is another fountain, Fontana della Barcaccia. It is a Baroque style fountain and is favorite place of Piazza di Spagna.
After Piazza di Spagna, lets go to the Pantheon. You can check our route.
Also, we found Hokey Pokey trick on the route of Piazza di San Lorenzo in Lucino. That was nice view 🙂 After follow the tracks, we found the Pantheon.
Pantheon is really good to see. There are concrete columns corners of Pantheon. It is in the middle of a square. Pantheon is very popular place to visit, so it is really crowded place all the time, but it is nice to visit. Also, you can go to a café near of Pantheon and eat delicious ice-cream in the café. One of them that we sat and ordered ice-cream with lemon but she brought me a cup of ice-cream with coconut. When I said to her about wrong taste, she said “Sorry, I will give you a cup of ice-cream with lemon, also you can finish coconut one” I was surprised and she took money just for lemon one. I ate a cup of ice-cream with coconut for free.
I watched tourist groups while I was eating my ice-cream. I loved outside of Pantheon. Also, inside of it is amazing. There is a big hole that goes through the sky. Lights come from that hole to the speaker who is in the Pantheon. And as I heard before, rain drop can’t enter the Pantheon from this hole.
Pantheon is a place that I really suggest you to go and see it. now, heading is to Vittorio Emanuele II monument.
VITTORIO EMANUELE II MONUMENT
Vittorio Emanuele II monument is near Piazza Venezia. There is some floor of it. You can walk up the stairs. Also, there is an elevator to go up to top of it. The view name is “Rome from the sky”. You can get this view by a glass cockpit elevator. You can get some nice photos around Vittorio Emanuele II monument.
Mercati di Traiano
One of amazing view around of Vittorio Emanuele II monument is Mercati di Traiano. This place worked as a market like supermarkets nowadays. There were some offices there. The silk and spices were sold there. You should visit here.
It is like way of showing of city power. It is really protected and comes today. There is a statue of St. Peter on top of the column. It was a great composition with this view.
Institute for the History of the Italian Risorgiment
Here is an institute that supports the studies which are about Italian history. We got some photos of here.
You can go with the blue road under some trees and enjoyful road or you can choose the other. This road has some concrete columns to see and explore. Make your choice and go to the land of Gladiators. Two of road are amazing, you can google it also.
Yeah, after the road walking, we saw the Colosseum out-walls. Here is my reason to come to Rome and it definitely deserves its popularity. Amazing view, fantastic walls.
There are some men with gladiator customs on them and looking for the tourists who want to take their photos. You can try for a good memory from Colosseum. There is an arch of Constantine here. It is built for a victory and has 3 gates of it. This is the largest Roman victory arch.
Also, you can see the Temple of Venus and Rome, the largest temple in Ancient Rome. The designer of it emperor Hadrian.
After them the Colosseum is in front of us. Here is known as Flavianus Amphitheater. Colosseum is an arena. It was built in 8 years. There were some games in it, including gladiatorial combats and wild animal fights.
Here is very crowded place. Every year, thousands of tourist come here and visit. Before entering to the Colosseum, don’t forget to buy Romepass Card from entrance. It is good not to wait the entrance queue. Also, it is useful for other museums and public transportation.
